  28.         When doing effects such as this, I use a 2D animation program to 
  29. develop a sequence of shades of gray moving across the screen. Make a box 
  30. with a white to black gradient and have it move across the screen over a 
  31. black background (saving this sequence on the PAR or PVR if you have one). 
  32. Then bring this sequence in as a transparency map.
